It’s crucial to have an accountability partner when you’re trying to jumpstart a lifestyle plan, or lose weight, or reach your wellness goals. An accountability partner is someone who can keep you motivated and be your cheerleader along the way. This will help you stay on track.
Whenever we are trying to stick to a routine, we can be awesome at it for a limited time, but then something might sidetrack us – like bad news or stress. Having an accountability partner can help us get over those hurdles so we don’t jump off the wagon.
There are several ways you can interact with your accountability partner. One way can be that you agree to text each other photos of your food or do a daily check-in via a text message or phone call. You can also use apps and share access to your accountability partner.
If you don’t have anyone in your life that you would feel comfortable with being a healthy accountability partner, you can join a health-related Facebook group. There are dozens of Facebook groups dedicated to healthy eating.
Another idea can be to hire someone as an accountability partner. As a Chicago health coach, I’m an accountability partner for all my clients. In addition to phone calls, some clients text me their photos.
