Getting your family to support you on your healthy journey can be a challenge. However, when we have family and friends supporting us, we are more likely to follow through with our health goals. Here are tips on how to get them on board.
Tell them why.
When approaching them for support let them know why you are making the change, so that they know how important this is to you.
Start with small changes, little changes can be easier, and each change can be used as a brick to help build a healthy lifestyle. One way to start is by stocking your kitchen with healthy foods to set your family up for success. If you have healthier options in your home, you are more likely to eat them.
Create a fun challenge.
Another way to get your loved ones on board is by creating a challenge to get your loved ones excited about healthy eating. For example, you and your partner can get a tracking device (such as a Fitbit) and challenge each other to walk 10,000 steps per day.
I was a guest on WGN’s Healthy Living where I discussed how to get your family on board on this healthy eating journey. I invite you to watch the full segment here:
