Erin Clifford at Canyon Ranch Resort and RetreatMy time at Canyon Ranch started over 20 years ago in college when I first became interested in health and wellness. College was rough at times, but I knew if I wanted to live my life to the fullest, physically and mentally, I needed to start somewhere. There were so many different philosophies about nutrition and exercise, and I wasn’t sure which direction to take. Canyon Ranch was there as a support system and a well needed reset to my life to learn, guide, and inspire me into being the best version of myself that I could be.

After I continued to experience Canyon Ranch, my Mom and other family members began to join me to explore their own wellness journeys. I felt really confident that they were educating us with the right information and I now recommend it to clients for honest and healthy advice on how to achieve their goals.

My visit last week to Canyon Ranch was a well needed reset as I was feeling a little overwhelmed with work, my clinical internship, and my graduate school program. I felt like I was running on empty, and I knew I needed to recommit to my self-care. Sometimes, taking the time away to decompress and regain composure of our mental and physical wellbeing is a necessity whether it is a week-long retreat, vacation, or a personal day away from work and family obligations.

Wellness Coach Erin Clifford at Canyon Ranch Resort and RetreatI took the week to take lectures on the most up to date research on nutrition, fitness, and stress management. My Mom and I also enjoyed a few spa treatments and an array of exercise classes. My favorite part of the week (other than spending time with my amazing Mom) was experiencing a few cooking classes where I learned great new healthy recipes, including Fastest Meals Imaginable and Foods For Your Mood. I was also able to take a private Artisan Bread class with the pastry chef to get more advice for my clients on how to bake more consciously to support one’s GI tract. I learned all about einkorn flour, a healthier version of wheat, and how to use it to make an artisan sourdough bread.

Here are a few of my favorite recipes from the week:

If you are a busy professional or parent who is used to taking care of others, but wants to start working on your own self-care, this is a great place to start. From beginners to those already knowledgeable about health and wellness, Canyon Ranch is a wonderful place to learn valuable information about a modern approach to healthy living!
